Muodoslompolo church at midnightBy Per Franck A nice and sunny, but freezing cold, midnight in late June, 2012. Muodoslompolo church was first built 1864/65 in the neighboring village Muonionalusta, but was disassembled, moved and rebuilt in 1925 once the highway was built and the latter village no longer became a hub of activity due to its location on the Muonio river. Muodoslompolo then became the central village of the area due to the three highways meeting there connecting Karesuando, Pajala, and Muonio (Finland). |
