2. The Nobel Prize. At Stockholm University professors who teach students are among those who also nominate Nobel Laureates. Several professors are on committees that nominate the laureates for Nobel prizes and the Sveriges Riksbank Prize in Economic Sciences in Memory of Alfred Nobel. At Stockholm University, tuition varies according to the course or program of study. The price per academic year for studies within the humanities/social sciences/law is SEK 90,000 (roughly $10,000) and within the sciences SEK 140,000 (approximately $16,000). Some programs have special prices in the above range, and a few programs offered in collaboration with other universities have higher tuition fees. There is also an application fee of SEK 900, paid directly to University Admissions in Sweden to have your application processed.
Doctoral courses are free for all international students. In Sweden, the university or external financiers usually pay for doctoral positions, so you study for free and also earn an income. Additionally, there is a variety of scholarship options available to American students.
