Recruiting is underway to staff a crew that will sail the Draken Harald Hårfagre, the worlds largest Viking longship built in modern times, from her homeport in Haugesund, Norway in a challenging two-month voyage across the North Atlantic Ocean. Almost 4,000 people from around the world have applied for 32 crew positions on the 115-foot-long vessel, whose captain hails from Sweden. In May, the Draken Expedition will explore and relive one of the most mythological sea voyages — the first transatlantic crossing, and the Viking discovery of the New World, more than a thousand years ago. Expedition America 2016 will head for Iceland and Greenland, and visit ports in the USA and Canada. Stay tuned for information about stops along the Saint Lawrence Seaway, throughout the Great Lakes and the New York canal system.
