Originating in Sweden, Våffeldagen is an entire day dedicated to the delicious waffle, and the upcoming arrival of spring.
The city of Lindsborg, Kansas will be serving up waffles at any number of participating restaurants on Våffeldagen (Waffle Day), March 25, 2017 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Swedish waffles, which are usually thinner and crisper than American waffles, are served with whipped cream and jam rather than syrup. Och de smakar mycket good (and they taste very good)!

Lindsborg is not alone. The American Swedish Historical Museum in Philadelphia, PA, the Swedish American Museum in Chicago and the American Swedish Institute in Minneapolis all serve waffles on this day.

And while we in the north celebrate with waffles, snowbirds in the south celebrate March 25 with an all-you-can-eat Scandinavian shrimp fest. The Swedish Club of Sarasota is inviting everyone to its annual shrimp party at the Airport Holiday Inn. (No, we're not aware if waffles are served for dessert.)
