Eliasson demands Reinfeldt to attend UN-meeting
The former Swedish Foreign Minister and former President of the UN General Assembly, Jan Eliasson thinks Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt should go to the UN meeting on the Millennium Development Goals in New York at September 20-22. Foreign Minister Carl Bildt writes however that the government cannot make any commitments for the time after the election at September 19 out of respect for the democracy.
Ikea´s Russian plans delayed
Ikea’s plan to build several new stores in Russia has been postponed after conflicts with local authorities. Two new stores, in Samara and in Ufa will however be opened later this year according to Ikea.
Bloody Skarsgård
Literally. Alexander Skarsgård, aka Skarsgård junior, poses naked on the cover of the latest issue of Rolling Stone Magazine along with his “True Blood” colleagues Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyers. Naked but for splashes of blood (or ketchup). Alexander Skarsgård, who is known in Hollywood as Sexy Skars, calls the picture “Revealing”. “True Blood” is the American TV drama series created and produced by Alan Ball, and based on “The Southern Vampire Mysteries” by Charlaine Harris. “True Blood” is shown on HBO, and premiered in 2008.
Pancake cake
Tricky to translate but oh-so-good for dessert! The pannkakstårta, with layers of thin Swedish pancakes and whipped cream and jam or berries. This recipe comes from Charlotta Malhotra’s book “Efterlängtade efterrätter”. Writes Malhotra: “I was often given pancakes as a child, but we never made a cake out of them. Here’s my revenge!” Ingredients: 4 eggs, 2 cups milk, 1 cup flour, 0.5 teaspoon salt, 1 Tablespoon butter. For filling: 1 cup heavy cream, blueberry jam or mashed blueberries. Decoration: Whipped cream, berries, and lemon balm. Beat the eggs and half of the milk. Add the flour and salt and stir until even. Pour in the rest of the milk. Fry the pancakes in a frying pan with butter. Put them to cool on top of each other with grease-proof paper in between. Whip the cream. Layer the pancakes with the cream and the berries or jam.
