The UN Security Council travelled to Sweden last weekend for its informal session with the UN Secretary-General.

The meeting was preceded by a visit to European Spallation Source, ESS in Lund, a unique material research facility based on the world's most powerful neutron source. In addition to the Secretary-General and Security Council members, Sweden's Prime Minister Stefan Löfven and Foreign Minister Margot Wallström participated in the informal work session on April 21.

UN Secretary General António Guterres continued to Uppsala on Sunday April 22, where he gave a Dag Hammarskjöld lecture at Uppsala Castle and later visited Stockholm.
