With summer vacation well underway, many Swedes head to the water to swim and enjoy their time off. Unfortunately, summer swimming also means an increase in drowning accidents.

A new research project carried out by the Karolinska Institute has been testing out drones to see if they can complement the work lifeguards do. Tests show that drones can find people faster than lifeguards and even carry life-saving floating devices to drowning victims while life guards are on the way to take over rescue operations.
