The Swedish government has commissioned VisitSweden and Jordbruksverket (the Board of Agriculture) to develop a strategy that conveys Sweden’s place as a culinary destination for travelers. The Board of Agriculture alone allotted SEK 40 million to the program, which will run until 2020. As Swedish food experiences have been winning awards in international food and travel magazines for a number of years, the partners together with the tourist industry are investing SEK 57 million in the four-year plan to develop and strengthen the international marketing of culinary experiences in Sweden. The goal is to bring more international tourists to Sweden and emphasize meal experiences while creating jobs and growth in all related sectors throughout Sweden.
