Finding a unique venue for a wedding isn’t a new concept, and IKEA has been the choice (albeit without the webcam) for at least two American brides in the last few years.

On a fateful day in 2005, Shirley Stewart was running errands and met Rashid Smith, a handsome customer in the IKEA Elizabeth, NJ frame department … where they returned to tie the knot in 2013. Staff came in on their day off to witness the special event: “We were here for you when you met,” they told Stewart and Smith. “So we wanted to be here for you when you exchanged your vows.”

Julie Rodgers and Willie Pittman’s first date was at IKEA College Park, MD in 2010. “'This is one of the best dates I've ever had,” said Rodgers, so she was insistent they tie the knot there, where they had played with the furniture and ate Swedish meatballs in the cafeteria. To the shock — and delight — of shoppers, they exchanged their vows and cut their cake at the store in April 2012. Of course meatballs were on the reception menu as well.
