Easier to study medicine in Sweden
In the past in Sweden you had to have really good grades in order to get into university to study medicine to become a doctor. However, at the student admissions for the spring semester many record lows were set in the different quotas. A GPA of 1.65-1.75 (out of 5.0, the highest in Sweden) was all that was needed at seven of the universities where medical doctors are trained.
“There have been changes at the medical school,” says Tuula Kuosmanen, director of the admissions department and student support at the University and College Council, to TT. “It used to be that (a GPA of) 2.0 was needed for all universities, but that’s no longer the case. Her explanation is that among other things, the medical school in Sweden is being expanded with more seats.
