1950: The 17-year-old Ingemar Johansson becomes the heavy weight champion in the junior Swedish Championship (junior-SM) in boxing. Two years later he competes in the Olympic Games in Helsinki, wins a silver medal and begins his career as a professional boxer later the same year, in December 1952.
