The American embassy in Stockholm was evacuated today, since a suspicious letter was found. According to the fire department the letter contained a white powder. “A white powder has leaked into the embassy,” said Anette Bäcklin, coordinator for the fire department in greater Stockholm. Bomb technicians from the police came to the embassy, removed the letter and roadblocks were removed later in the afternoon. Towe Hägg at Stockholm police cannot say whether or not the letter contains anything that’s potentially hazardous. “It is a security incident and we’re looking into it,” said Jeff Anderson, press officer at the embassy. It total there are around 150 people employed at the embassy, but Anderson did not know how many were there today.
