Dellert and Ahlsted’s darling
Opera singer Kjerstin Dellert and actor Börje Ahlstedt have something in common: They both fell in love with Sophie Sörensen, a nurse-turned-actor. So much so, that they hired her for the play “Hell Dig, August”—with texts by and about August Strindberg—at Confidencen, Ulriksdals Slottsteater.

Dellert and Ahlstedt had to go abroad to bring Sörensen back to Sweden, though. Sophie left her job as a nurse at S:t Görans hospital in Stockholm, aiming instead for an acting career, and went to New York to study.

“I continue to develop as an actress,” she says. “I just received my green card (work permit), and I want an international career. I was born in England, so I speak two languages. It’s amazing to act with two big timers like Kjerstin and Börje. I try to be like a sponge, and suck as much out of their experience and knowledge as I can. Börje is very generous and helpul, and I’ve looked up to him ever since I saw him in ‘Fanny and Alexander’ and ‘Ronja Rövardotter.’”
