No ban for cell phones while driving
While most European countries ban the use of handheld cell phones while driving, the resistance to do so in Sweden is strong. So strong in fact, that the parliament voted down the Green Party politician Karin Svensson Smith’s proposal for a ban, with alarming numbers: 267 to 17. The majority of the parliament argues there isn’t enough research on the combination of cell phones and road safety. There’s also the question of how such a ban would be monitored.
