Guus Kuijer receives ALMA award
Dutch children’s author Guus Kuijer (1942-) has received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award 2012.

Kuijer made his debut in 1975, and has since published over 30 books, mostly aimed at teenage readers. Among his books are: “The Book About Everything”, Florian Knol, and a series of five books about the girl Polleke, starting with “Together Forever, Amen”.

The author will receive the award at a ceremony at the Stockholm Concert Hall on May 28. The prize is awarded annually to an amount of five million SEK ($741,442), making it one of the richest literary prizes in the world. The award is administered by the Swedish Arts Council, and is funded only by central government funds.
