the 14 member strong orchestra is available, time permitting, and offers a versatile repertoire; from classic to contemporary popular music. Local vocalist Helena Liljeblad will join the ensemble in NY.
The repertoire consists of an interesting mixture of Swedish music from different time periods and styles. There is music by Johan Heinrich Roman, August Söderman, Wilhelm Peterson-Berger, Hugo Alfvén, Lars-Erik Larsson, Dag Wirén, Benny Andersson / Björn Ulvaeus (ABBA) and Per-Erik Moraeus. Of course, the ensemble will also present popular Swedish folk music related to the Swedish midsummer celebrations. There will also be completely new music composed by Karl-Johan Ankarblom and Tomas Wikenius as well as music by the great classical composers like Bach and Mozart.
Helena Liljeblad will be performing with the ensemble in some well known music from the repertoire of Monika Zetterlund and Viktoria Tolstoy among others.
Clas Strömblad, who was previously the lead trumpet player in the Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, is the conductor.
