Röhsska Museum of Design and Craft re-opens with a kick-off on Feb. 23 and a program that starts a dialogue about the notion of design and its impact on our everyday lives.

Three temporary and one new permanent exhibition are presented in the museum, centrally located in Göteborg. The new permanent exhibition, Inspiration East Asia, explores the meeting of the Nordic region with East Asia. The exhibition New Works in the Collection introduces a great variety of recently collected objects that mirror our times. The work of Brynjar Sigurðarson—the 2018 recipient of the Torsten and Wanja Söderberg Prize—is also part of the spring exhibition while the biggest draw for visitors may be Unmaking Democratic Design: Fredrik Paulsen.

The Swedish designer was asked to interpret the concept of democratic design. His object of choice is the chair, and visitors are invited to craft their own—objects that to an extent become part of the ongoing exhibition. Paulsen's chair, the Röhsska chair didn't win but was nominated for the Born Classic Award at this year's Stockholm Furniture & Light Fair in February.
The museum is located at Vasagatan 37-39 (a block from the Göteborg boulevard, Avenyn). For more info, see www.rohsska.se
