Round 7 of the 2013 Allsvenskan was very much a tale of two teams in one city as Stockholm clubs Djurgården and AIK experienced very different emotions.
Just a week after death threats forced manager Magnus Pehrsson and sports director Tommy Jacobsson to resign, Djurgården sank to its lowest point in years with a 5-1 loss to Åtvidaberg. The defeat not only left DIF winless at the bottom of the standings with just two goals scored in seven matches, but the way the team played showed the stress is certainly affecting the players. Djurgården barely put up a fight against Åtvidaberg and the crisis around the club deepened as plans for a new stadium are now apparently on hold as sponsors begin talking about bailing out from the club.
Martin Sundgren, who took over as trainer after Pehrsson resigned, was understandably frustrated after the match.
“We're late for almost everything, we did not win duels and they easily played through us even after we talked about how we need to be much tighter on defense,” Sundgren said. “Offensively so we did not push forward. We stayed much too low in our play. We have to go forward and try to create some action.”
Across town in Solna, players and staff at AIK were still coming to grips with the sudden death of goalkeeper Ivan Turina, who passed away in sleep May 2. The Croatian had a congenital heart condition and doctors believe he suffered a massive coronary. The death of the popular net minder left AIK numb. The Svenska Fotbollforbundet gave AIK the opportunity to reschedule its showdown May 6 with league leaders IFK Göteborg. The p;layers voted to play, and urged on by a respectful, standing-room only crowd at Friends Arena, AIK came away with a 3-1 victory.
“This is for Ivan, Ivan Turina, and a brother of mine who died in a shock, and his two children, said Martin Mutumba, who scored a goal and was Turina’s neighbor.
After the match AIK players placed a banner reading in one of the gaols that said, "Gone but never forgotten. Rest in peace. Ivan Turina.”

AIK 3, IFK Göteborg 1
SOLNA – An emotional AIK handed Göteborg its first loss of the season and knocked the Blavitt out of first place with a 3-1 win May 6 in front of 24,211 fans at Friends Arena. AIK was still mourning the shocking of 32-year-old goalkeeper Ivan Turina, who died of a massive coronary May 2. AIK recovered from a rocky start as missed two penalties in a one-minute span in the 16th and 17th minutes and then fell behind as Philip Haglund fired IFK into the lead in the 24th minute. Kennedy Igboananike tied the game seven minutes later off a pass from Martin Mutumba. Celso Borges put AIK in front in the 49h minute. Mutumba put the game away when he struck in the 80th minute. The loss was the first of the season for Göteborg.

Helsingborg 1, Syrianska 0
SÖDERTÄLJE – Helsingborg moved into first place with a 1-0 win over Syrianska May 5 at the Södertälje Football Arena. U.S. international midfielder Alejandro Bedoya scored the lone goal of the match in the 58th minute off a pass from David Accam. The goal was Bedoya’s second of the season. Helsingborg now leads the league with 16 points, three better than third-place Göteborg and one ahead of Malmö.

Elfsborg 2, Mjällby 1
BORAS – Defending champions Elfsborg won their third match in a row, defeating Mjällby 2-1 May 5 at Borås Arena. Haris Radetinac put MAIF after 26 minutes. Tom Söderberg tied the match 10 minutes later. Marcus Rohden scored the game winner at the 67-minute mark.

Åtvidaberg 5, Djurgården 1
ÅTVIDABERG – Djurgården barely put up a fight as it remained winless in seven games this season, falling to Åtvidaberg 5-1 May 4 at Kopparvallen. Imad Zatara and Viktor Prodell had two goals each and Tom Pettersson had one as Åtvidaberg built a 5-0 lead after 63 minutes. Amadou Jawo scored Djurgården’s long goal in the 81st minute. It was just the second league goal of the year for DIF.

BK Häcken 1, Brommapojkarna 0
GÖTEBORG – Häcken picked up its third win of season with a 1-0 victory over Brommapojkarna May 6 at Rambergsvallen. Mostapha El Kabir scored the lone goal of the match in the 83rd minute. BP has just one win in seven games.

Halmstads BK 1, Östers 0
HALMSTAD -- Andreas Landgren scored in the 63rd minute to lead Halmstad to its first win of the season, knocking off Östers 1-0 May 5 at Örjans vall. Landgren scored off a pass from Gudjon Baldvinsson.

Malmö 1, Norrköping 1
MALMÖ – Simon Thern scored to salvage a point for Malmö which played to a 1-1 draw May 3 with Norrköping at Swedbank Arena. Imad Khalili put Peking in front after just eight minutes. Thern tied the game at the 54-minute mark.

Gefle 1, Kalmar 1
GÄVLE – Gefle and Kalmar played to a 1-1 draw May 6 at Stromvallen. Måns Söderqvist put Kalmar in front in the 20th minute. Jakob Orlov tied the game in the 56th minute.
