Game comments: Sweden knocks off U.S. in Women's World Cup

Before this game in Wolfsburg, Germany, USA had never lost any of their 17 group games at the FIFA Women’s World Cup. Sweden’s two first-half goals clearly put the U.S. team at a disadvantage and the final result was 2-1 and with USA meeting Brazil while Sweden meets Australia.

Sweden’s win in Wolfsburg makes you wonder what went through the U.S. team’s head coache’s head in the final minute. Swedish born, former footballer and trainer Pia Sundhage has been the U.S. Women’s National Team’s head coach since November 2007. While at the helm of the U.S., Sundhage has won the 2008 Algarve Cup and a Gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics. She was on the verge of winning the 2009 Algarve Cup, but the United States lost out to... Sweden, on penalties.
