Henrik who?
Helsingborg doesn’t seem to miss having Henrik Larsson around after cruising to its fifth win in six matches April 14 when it blanked Åtvidaberg 3-0 in Round 6 of the Allsvenskan.
Larsson, one of the most iconic players in Swedish football history, retired from Helsingborg at the end of the 2009 season. He is now the head coach of Superettan side Landskrona. Experts and fans alike wondered openly just how HIF would cope without Larsson in the line up. So far, the answer is just fine.
Christoffer Andersson scored twice while Rasmus Jonsson had three assists as Helsingborg pounded league newcomers Åtvidaberg 3-0 at Kopparvallen. The victory was the fifth for Helsingborg, which is one of two undefeated teams left in the league. HIF has one draw.
“It was a great result,” said team captain Erik Edman. “What we all know we have to do is keep things going like this. There are 30 games in the season, so the fact we’re in first place after sic doesn’t really mean much.”
Andersson scored on either side of the interval. Erik Sundin added the third in the 89th minute. Jonsson, who has stepped into Larsson’s role as a striker, set up all three goals. He now has one goal and four assists in six matches.
Malmö also remained undefeated as it knocked off former league leaders BK Häcken 3-1 at the Swedbank Arena in Malmö. Malmö is in second place with 14 points. Helsingborg leads the table with 16 points.
The news was much different for AIK and Göteborg, which again lost. AIK has yet to win this season and has scored just once in six matches. The 2009 champions are in second-to-last place. Göteborg fell to ninth place after losing on the road to Trelleborg.
Kalmar also remained winless following a surprising scoreless draw with Mjällby.
