AIK 1, IFK Göteborg 0
SOLNA—IFK Göteborg got every break it needed to snap a four-game road winless streak and it squandered them all in a 1-0 loss to AIK at Råsunda Stadium July 13 in Round 14 of the 2009 Allsvenskan.
IFK finished the game with a two-man advantage as Dulee Johnson and Kenny Pavey each received red cards in the second half. Johnson got his walking papers after he hauled down Tomas Olsson in the penalty area in the 67th minute. Scoring leader Tobias Hysen stepped up to the spot but AIK goalkeeper Daniel Örlund made a brilliant save, preserving a 1-0 lead for the Gnaget.
AIK took the lead in the 41st minute when Nils-Eric Johansson got the rebound of an Ivan Obolo shot and pushed it past IFK net minder Kim Christensen.
Despite the spot kick miscue, Göteborg continued to press, searching for an equalizer. However, the league leaders could not take advantage of being a man up. As time ran out, IFK went up two men when Pavey received an automatic red card for a tackle from behind. Still, Göteborg was unable to find the goal.
The good news for IFK second-place was Elfsborg finally suffered its first loss of the season, preserving the Angels’ slim one-point margin at the top of the table.
