The victory was in stark contrast to how Kalmar started the first half of the season in April, going winless in the first five matches. The 2008 champions did not pick up their first victory until May 1 when they beat Häcken. Elm made sure there would be no repeat against Malmö.
Wilton Figueiredo gave Malmö a 1-0 with six minutes remaining in the first half, but Elm tied the game four minutes after the interval. The 22-year-old struck the game winner in the 89th minute. He now has five goals this season although it could be his last in a Kalmar uniform. A star on the Swedish Under-21 national team, rumors have Elm joining older brother Victor at Dutch side Heerenveen.
