Chicago's trendy Lincoln Park is home to a multitude of young people, particularly young professionals. Four Farthings, a dark, corner tavern in the neighborhood, hosted Young Professionals of the Swedish American Chamber of Commerce-Chicago as they gathered to discuss past experiences and plan exciting events for the coming year, which looks a little different from past years since many of the members are new.

“I joined Young Professionals because I understand the value of the organization and the benefits of being involved,” said Oskar Joelsson, a business student at North Park University who recently became a member of SACC-Chicago Young Professionals.

"I also enjoy getting to know young professionals similar to myself and networking for my future in American business,” Joelsson said. He is an intern at Infocube, which is one of the sponsors of Swedish American Chamber of Commerce.

Mia Bergman, president of the SACC-Chicago and a board member of Young Professionals, has been a member for several years and strongly recommends all young professionals between ages 18 and 35 to participate in the events throughout the year.

“[Chicago Young Professionals] provides a platform to meet and exchange ideas,” Bergman said.

Many events offer opportunities for networking and creating social and professional relationships with American companies. Some of the scheduled events include the annual spring brunch, monthly pub evenings, wine tasting and the most anticipated Crayfish Party.
