Swedish Idol 2011 – Amanda Fondell
The winner of this year’s “Idol” on Swedish Television, TV4, (the US version is of course “American Idol”) is Amanda Fondell, a 17-year old from Skåne. Amanda won with 52% of the votes, and received a record contract after having sung the winning song “” on stage at Globen, in Stockholm. “I’m so tired now,” she said afterwards. “I just want to go to bed.” But there will be no rest for the youngster. She’s already in a studio, recording her first album. Said Alexander Bard, one of the jury members, after hearing Amanda’s version of Blur’s “Song 2”: “This was the coolest, boldest choice ever.” During the fall, Amanda has made headstrong stage performances, now she’s looking forward to performing on other stages than that of “Idol”. Previous “Idol” winners have done good: In 2005, Agnes Carlsson won, and she has since risen to fame, with a number of international successes.
