Ingmar Bergman has directed the world’s 8th best film in a language other than English. How does that sound? It’s the British film magazine Empire that has published a list of the 100 best films in a language other than English. Topping the list is Akiro Kurosawa’s “Seven Samurai.”
“The Seventh Seal," which was made in 1957, is the only Swedish film among the top 10. Bergman’s “Persona,” from 1966, ranks 71 and Tomas Alfredson’s vampire movie, “Let the right one in,” is number 15.
