Profession and company: Attorney with Infiniti Law in San Francisco

Background:
I moved from Sweden to southern California with my parents as a young child. I moved to northern California for college and ended up settling here because of all of the great opportunities available in this area. I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Political Science from Berkeley. Then I got my Jurist Doctorate degree from Stanford Law School. For the past 11 years, I have been handling business law, trademark and business immigration cases primarily for small- to mid-size multinational companies. I have done quite a bit of work assisting Swedish companies with establishing themselves in the U.S. and handling the visa issues involved in transferring employees to the U.S. I’m grateful now that my parents kept Swedish as the primary language spoken in our home after we moved here—even though at the time I thought I would never use it!

SACC-SF membership:
I joined SACC because it is a great way to connect with Swedish companies and professionals in the Bay Area. The networking opportunities available through SACC have been very beneficial to my business and I have gotten new clients as a direct result of my membership—and I have even made connections with SACC members in other parts of the U.S.

SACC-SF Board of Directors:
I think that being involved with SACC is a great way to support Swedish culture in the U.S. and to strengthen the collaborations and opportunities that exist between Sweden and the U.S.

Profession and company: Director of Food and Beverage at Hilton San Francisco

Background:
I moved to America in 1993 to finish my hotel schooling at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. After graduation in 1996 I started my career in hotels at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City. I have been with Hilton Hotels since then in various capacities and in various locations such as Lake Tahoe, San Jose and San Francisco. During the last three years I have been the Director of Food and Beverage at the Hilton San Francisco.

SACC-SF membership:
I joined because SACC-SF is hosting very interesting events that allow for good networking with a cross section of the San Francisco and Bay Area business communities. I’ve been a member for one year, but I have been involved with SACC-SF for two years since we host SACC monthly luncheons at our restaurant, Urban Tavern. Hosting these luncheons gives great exposure to the members of SACC-SF our restaurant and hotel. Originally the Consul General Barbro Osher recommended that I contact the SACC-SF and its President Nils Welin—very good advice!

SACC-SF Board of Directors:
It is important to support organizations such as SACC-SF both from a business perspective and from a Swedish perspective. From a business perspective I am able to meet decision makers and potential clients for our hotel and our restaurant. From a Swedish perspective the board work allows me to be part of the important work of promoting and developing business for Sweden.
