The occasion: a cello preformance by Tamara Bohlin accompanied by her husband, Ragnar Bohlin, on the piano.
The talented cellist played Haydn's Cello Concerto No.1 in C Major, followed by Tchaikovsky’s Rococo Variations and a section from his ballet Sleeping Beauty.

"This is what this music was actually made for and how it was often enjoyed in the old days: Performed with only a few musicians at someone's home," the cellist herself commented after a perfectly beautiful performance.

The Russian born and educated Bohlin claims to enjoy the smaller chamber ensemble venues more than playing with a full symphony orchestra. She was educated at the Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory in St. Petersburg and joined Kungliga Hovkapellet at the Royal Opera in Stockholm in 1997. She presently teaches at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music and performs with Gold Coast Chamber Players and on occasion with the Peninsula Symphony.

Ragnar Bohlin has been the conductor of the San Francisco Symphony Chorus since 2007.
