The traveling Art & Design exhibition 17 Swedish Designers has been on display in San Diego since Oct. 9. The exhibition was co-arranged by the Consulate of Sweden, Svensk Form and Planet Rooth Studios Gallery in San Diego. The grand opening on Oct. 9 drew over 300 people and the show overall, has been a huge success. Another highlight was the lecture given by one of the participating designers, Sara Szyber, at the Hall of Nations in Balboa Park on October 10. Both events were open to the public and free of admission.

All 17 featured designers are women of the same generation and culture, presenting impressively versatile works of art and design. The show contains high design examples from each of the 17 Swedish designers, ranging from furniture, and textiles to works in glass, ceramics, steel and wood. The exhibition was first showcased in Stockholm by French gallerist Pascale Cottard-Olsson. Mrs. Cottard-Olsson composed the book 17 Swedish Designers, chez Pascale, on which the exhibition is based. After visiting San Diego, the exhibition will move on to Las Vegas in January 2011.
