On October 5, SACC-SF/SV will produce a green tech event featuring the opportunities, policies and funding resources for the Sweden/California collaboration.
On Monday, October 5, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., SACC will host an event entitled “Sweden & California: Collaborations and Business Opportunities in Sustainable Innovation” at the GreenV Sustainable Center of South San Francisco (1 Chestnut Ave., So. San Francisco, CA 94080; (650) 588-1113), a novel green tech meeting center. This event brings together the leaders in energy and environmental policy from Sweden and California for a dynamic dialogue about their goals and successes, as well as insights into business opportunities.
Charlotte Danielsson, event chair, is an attorney and board member of
SACC-SF/SV (More on Ms. Danielsson at http://www.nordstjernan.com/news/people/1350/). The morning will focus on sustainable innovation first in
Sweden and then in California. The event will feature Commissioner
James Boyd of the California Energy Commission as well as sustainability directors from several bay area cities, Garrett Fitzgerald for Oakland and Kim Malcolm for Berkeley.
After a networking lunch, the afternoon will be devoted first to
industry insights from leading players in the industry. Among others,
speakers include Dan Geiger, Executive Director of the U.S.
Green Building Council’s Northern California Chapter and Kristina
Peterson, VP of Suntech America and President of Gemini Solar
Development Company.
That will be followed by a session with advice on funding. Sylvia Burks, Partner and Head of Clean Technology Group at Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman LLP will discuss Stimulus Funds, and venture capitalists Ram Srinivasan, Partner at Wellington Partners Venture Capital and Alex Fries, President of Ecosystem Ventures and Founder of European-American Angels Club, will provide their insights.
The event is jointly sponsored by northern California’s chapter of the
Swedish American Chamber of Commerce and the Swedish Trade Council. The audience will include Swedish companies looking to expand into the U.S. market as well as Bay Area businesses. In an admirable demonstration of collaboration, the Swedish Trade Council and the Swedish Consulate in Los Angeles are hosting immediately before the event a clean tech delegation from Sweden, which will multiply their effectiveness by attending this Bay Area green tech event. Further, the Swedish Trade Council is marketing this event in Sweden.
This event will, without a doubt, be seen as an opportunity for
Swedish and Swedish-American business people to share their knowledge and to focus on where they can best improve society profitably. All are welcome to attend, including those interested in new careers in green industry.
