Norwegian newspaper launches funding campaign
Like Swedish immigrants, Norwegian immigrants also had several newspapers for their growing ethnic communities around the U.S. And, like Nordstjernan has done for Swedish-Americans for 143 years, the Norwegian newspapers played a crucial role in the lives of immigrants, too. Today only one of their newspapers remains, the Norwegian American Weekly. However, tough times for subscriptions and advertising recently prompted NAW, based in Seattle, to announce its closure. A campaign will run through the month of April to make sure The Norwegian American Weekly can continue to bring our neighbors news from Norway, from within their Norwegian-American community, beloved recipes, feature articles and more. Visit www.indiegogo.com/projects/save-the-norwegian-american-weekly or http://www.igg.me/at/naw for opportunities to help NAW and get special rewards, subscriptions and advertising packages.
