Our hearts go out to the people of Norway and all of the families who have lost loved ones.

We are speechless. Over 90 dead in the Norwegian terror attacks yesterday. A motive for the attacks is still unknown but the Norwegian born madman, who was arrested on Utøya reportedly appears to be connected with right-wing political activists. Timothy McVeigh and the Oklahoma City bombing does come to mind... In Norway. Inconceivable.

Regardless of motive and whether perpetrated or fiendishly contrived, the actions and threats of extremists intend to spread fear, anger, hatred, distrust and despair. Both in the Nordic region and the U.S., the world, our soldiers, police and security workers will assuredly succeed in battles to protect us from these vermin of violence and, likewise, the thwarted throngs who applaud or condone insidious endeavors regardless of motive.

An unwitting weapon, our media contemporaries alongside all of the new ways of communicating views through social media oftentimes help flash extremists' evil into their readers' minds.

As responsible people, it is our wise judgment to refrain from detonating excited accounts that illuminate despicable enemies of peace, freedom, justice and democracy. Only by showing courage through constraint in reactions will we defeat these felons of destruction and death.

Our thoughts and hearts are with the Norwegian people and all of the families who have lost loved ones.
