Several new hotels are being built and at the end of the year there will be almost 27 000 hotel rooms in the city. Stockholm Convention Bureau estimates that the city will have an additional 3,536 new hotel rooms by September 2013, bringing the total to nearly 31,000

That's close to a doubling compared with ten years ago. In Kista a hotel named Scandic Victoria Tower will have 299 rooms and in Årsta, closer to Arlanda Airport, First Hotel Arlandastad will have 600 rooms. But even in the inner city there are newcomers: Stockholm Scandic Grand Central opens this fall, a hotel with 391 rooms.

Some of the new hotels in the city are the Hotel Skeppsholmen with 79 rooms on the island Skeppsholmen, the 201-room Nobis Hotel designed by Claesson Koivisto Rune, the 272-room Courtyard by Marriott Stockholm-Kungsholmen located in the western suburbs of Stockholm, and the spectacular Radison Blu Waterfront with 418 rooms housed in the new conference center close to City Hall and the central station and Stockholm World Trade Center.
