The original vessel in the Disney Cruise Line ship program, started in 1998, has added Stockholm to their list of ports of call this summer. The first ship to be completely designed as a family cruise vessel that serves both parents and children, Disney Magic - with 11 decks that carry 2,400 passengers and a crew of 945 - is the first to add Stockholm, which is Sweden's principle cruise destination on the popular Baltic Sea routes.

Some 270 international cruise ships will visit Stockholm this season, and Disney Magic is one of 13 new ships that are making stopovers in Stockholm for the first time. In all, cruise line travelers bring a total of about $60 million (SEK 450 million) per year to Sweden, and Stockholm and the Baltic comprise one of the world markets with the strongest growth.

"It's notable that a company like Disney Cruises decides to visit Stockholm during its cruise in the Baltic, especially considering that 90% of Disney's guests would not have traveled outside the U.S. if it were not for Disney Cruises" says David Schubert, director of marketing, Ports of Stockholm.

The different surfaces of the Disney Magic are designed for different customer groups such as infants, children, teenagers and adults. One entire deck is dedicated to children. For more mature travelers, there are also areas that are only for 18 years and over. On board is a theater auditorium, which can take 970 guests and two shows or movies are shown each evening. There is also a shopping area with Disney paraphernalia and clothing.

"Disney Magic meets everyone's needs, regardless of age, there are appropriate activities for all ages from infants to well over retirement age," commented California travelers, Dennis and Paula Mazurier, who were on board the Disney Magic when it sailed into the Port of Stockholm this summer.
With ports at Kapellskär, Stockholm and Nynäshamn, the Ports of Stockholm Group comprises the largest meeting ports in the Baltic. Providing shipping, rentals, berths, land and premises, the group has about 150 employees and sales of $88 million (SEK 656 million) in 2009.
