On Michelin's 2010 Main Cities of Europe guide, which covers 44 cities in 20 countries, the Stockholm restaurant Frantzen/Lindeberg ( www.frantzen-lindeberg.com ) has advanced a stellar notch and now holds two stars. Already holding two is the Mathias Dahlgren ( www.mathiasdahlgren.com ) establishment at Stockholm's Grand Hôtel.

Two stars denotes "pleasurably worthwhile," and one means "categorically exceptional." Sweden now has a total of eleven Michelin starred restaurants. No restaurant in Sweden has ever reached three stars.

In Stockholm, both Leijontornet and Operakällaren were stripped of their single stars by the guide. In the new guide, Gothenburg kept all five restaurants from last year with one star each.

Swedish restaurants awarded stars in the Michelin Main Cities of Europe 2010 Guide in Stockholm are Frantzén/Lindeberg (2 stars), Mathias Dahlgren Matsalen at the Grand Hotel (2 stars), and with single stars, Mathias Dahlgren Matbaren, Esperanto, Fredsgatan 12 and Lux Stockholm. Sharing single star ratings in the main cities guide in Gothenburg are Basement, Fond, Kock & Vin, Sjömagasinet, and 28+.
