Helena Blomljus's new exhibition in Chelsea, NY

Her paintings helped her battle cancer, made construction workers cry at an exhibition in Sweden, and will in the future hang in children's hospitals.

Helena Blomljus’s second New York exhibition "Unending Shimmering Love" is displayed at the Chelsea gallery New Century Artist between September 20 and October 1.

“I just want to make people feel better; be calmer and happier. I want my art to be in places where you often feel afraid and uncomfortable,” Helena Blomljus said at the opening reception.

"There was a building construction on upper floor, and every morning the workers had to walk through my gallery. One day, one of them came to me with tears in his eyes, and said 'that my paintings were so beautiful and the walk through my gallery was the best time of the day'. These kinds of reactions really means everything to me"

The paintings got stuck in customs for four days because they were made of rare materials and didn't arrive at the gallery until 45 minutes prior to the opening reception. Helena managed to stay calm to make the best of it. The guests and Helena herself were happy with the outcome, despite the circumstances

“I changed surname. I love flowers and candles, so therefore it came naturally to me to be named Blomljus (flower-candle),” Helena said about her rare name.
