Anders Holst nominated for Smooth Jazz Award.
New York and Stockholm based Swedish singer songwriter Anders Holst, who was interviewed by Nordstjernan some time ago, has been nominated for an American Smooth Jazz Award. Holst is a nominee in the “International Male Vocalist” category, with Michael Buble, Matt Dusk and Seal – great company in other words. Nominating ballots were sent to the top 30 smooth jazz radio stations in the US, along with significant producers of smooth jazz Internet and satellite music and top smooth jazz journalists nationwide. “Music was always around when I grew up,” Holst said in his Nordstjernan interview. “I was ten when I wrote my first song. All throughout my life I’ve written songs to friends and family. But for various reasons I followed family tradition because I wanted my father to like me, and I wanted to be like him. But I always felt something was missing in my life. And music is my passion. I say ‘Follow your passion!’” Originally from Stockholm, Holst left a long and prosperous career in strategic management consulting in order to sing. And it has paid off greatly.
