How old were you when you began playing the piano?
“I was 8. Actually it was my younger sister who started playing the piano, but after a few weeks I became intrigued and also wanted to play. And once I began playing, my sister quit.…”
And now you’re coming to New York?
“Yes. I was there once before and then practiced at the Swedish Church. Then my family was planning a trip to New York and my mom came up with the idea of me having a concert at the Swedish Church.”
What are you doing right now?
“I study with Professor Staffan Scheja at Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music) in Stockholm. It’s exciting to study with Professor Scheja, since he’s such a successful pianist; it’s fascinating to hear about his experiences.”
Do you have a piece of music that you’re especially attracted to?
“It’s hard to pick one, but if I have to it’s probably Intermezzo no. 2 by Brahms, opus 118. I like to play that. Among my favorite composers are Bach and Brahms."
How many hours a day do you practice?
“It varies, but a couple of hours a day is the norm.”
What will you do in New York apart from giving a concert?
“Watch ice hockey, visit museums and just enjoy the city!”

Rudberg will perform works by Chopin, Brahms and Mozart at Church of Sweden. The concert is at 7 p.m.
