Swedish folk pop singer Ted Gärdestad is known for his meteoric rise to fame, releasing his first single at age 16 and setting off a wave of “Tedmania” that made him Sweden's first teen heartthrob overnight.

The singer, songwriter, musician and actor was known internationally simply as Ted. He began his acting career in 1966 and began playing music in 1971, signing with Polar Music. Ted's turbulent and dramatic life was also well known until he died at the age of 41 in 1997. His songs touched an entire nation and defined a generation of pop music through love, pain and hope.
