Ingrid Bergman — In Her Own Words opened in Stockholm with a star studded gala premiere at the Royal Dramaten Theater on August 24. All four children of the acclaimed Swedish actress and many of the Swedish acting elite were present for the event.
Seven-time Academy Award nominee and three-time Academy Award winner Ingrid Bergman was one of the most talented actresses of Hollywood’s Golden Age, with great performances in films such as Casablanca (1942), Gaslight (1944) and Autumn Sonata (1978).
In spring 2011, director Stig Björkman met Ingrid Bergman’s daughter Isabella Rossellini at the Berlin Film Festival. She suggested he "make a film about Mama." Through Isabella, Stig tells Ingrid's story through her own words and images.
A tribute to the Hollywood star in celebration of the centenary of her birth, this Cannes-awarded feature documentary is directed by Stig Björkman with voice over by Swedish actress Alicia Vikander. In never-before-seen private footage, notes, letters, diaries and interviews with her children, it presents a personal portrait and captivating behind-the-scenes look of the remarkable life of a young Swedish girl who became one of the most celebrated actresses of American and world cinema.
Its world premiere and first screening was at the Cannes Film Festival in May, 2015. It opened in Sweden on August 28 and is set to open in the U.S. on Nov. 13. Official trailer: Ingrid Bergman, in Her Own Words
