The film “Äta sova dö” (Eat, sleep, die) by Swedish director Gabriela Pichler, was awarded the prestigious RaroVideo audience prize during the critics’ week at the Venice Film Festival.

“I am proud to the bone over my actors, all of whom the audience in Venice has taken to their heart,” Gabriela Pichler said in a press release. “Äta sova dö” is a drama that takes place on the Swedish countryside during the financial crisis, and it is Pichler’s debut. Both Pichler and her films have become popular around film festivals lately. Pichler had already left Venice for the next big film festival; the one in Toronto, and missed the award ceremony. The film was this week also selected for screening at the Busan International Film Festival in October.
